Terms of use
Effective 27 September 2026.
These terms cover the MarkdownPaper website and web reader at markdownpaper.app and the MarkdownPaper desktop app. They are an agreement between you and Alpstack Technologies, a sole proprietorship of Renish Bhaskaran, based in India ("we"). By using MarkdownPaper you agree to them.
The web reader
The web reader is free to use for personal and commercial work, with no account. Please do not use it to attack, overload or interfere with the service or the people who use it.
The desktop app
The desktop app is sold through the platform store. Buying it gives you a license to use the app under the store's own terms. On the Mac that is Apple's Standard License Agreement, which applies alongside these terms. Payments, refunds and reinstalling are handled by the store you bought from.
The price is a one time purchase. Updates we release through the store are included.
Your documents
Your documents are yours. We do not receive them, claim any rights in them, or look at them. You are responsible for the content of the documents you open and share.
Our work
The MarkdownPaper name, logo, design and software belong to Alpstack Technologies. Except for the license the store grants you, all rights are reserved.
Content from elsewhere
Images, links and other material inside a document come from whoever wrote it, and public documents you open by address come from the site that hosts them. We are not responsible for that material.
No warranty
MarkdownPaper is provided "as is". We work hard to make it reliable and to render documents correctly, but we cannot promise it will be free of errors or always available. Keep your own copies of anything important; the app is a reader, not a backup.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of MarkdownPaper. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of India.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use MarkdownPaper after that means you accept the new terms.
