Read Markdown without an editor

Open a local .md file or paste Markdown and read it as a finished document, not as source in a code editor. MarkdownPaper runs in your browser, requires no account, and does not upload your document to a rendering server.

What the viewer renders

The reader supports GitHub Flavored Markdown, aligned tables, task lists, footnotes, syntax-highlighted code, KaTeX equations, and Mermaid diagrams. It also gives long documents a readable line length, a contents rail, three paper stocks, and controls that move out of the way while you read.

This is deliberately different from an editor preview. A preview is useful while the source is changing. A reader is useful when the document deserves your full attention.

Three ways to begin

1. Choose a Markdown file from your device.
2. Drop a .md file anywhere on the web app from a desktop file manager.
3. Paste Markdown text directly into the reader.

Your recent web documents are kept in IndexedDB on the same browser. The web app has no document-rendering API and does not need an upload step.

When to use MarkdownPaper

Use it for a README that is easier to understand away from a repository UI, a technical specification from a teammate, a generated report from an AI assistant, or any long Markdown file that has become tiring to read inside a code editor.
